Genetics of Populations
Hedrick’s new edition exemplifies his commitment to keeping pace with this dynamic area of study. Reorganized to allow students to focus more sharply on key material, the Fourth Edition integrates coverage of theoretical issues with a clear presentation of experimental population genetics and empirical data.
Drawing examples from both recent and classic studies, and using a variety of organisms to illustrate the vast developments of population genetics, this text provides students and researchers with the most comprehensive resource in the field. About the Author : Philip W.
Hedrick-Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona. Dr.
Hedrick’s research focuses on a number of topics related to the conservation of endangered species and the genetic basis of evolutionary processes. For example, he currently has projects on microsatellite variation, fitness, inbreeding depression, and outbreeding depression in the endangered Gila topminnow and on inbreeding depression in the Mexican wolf.
Major histocompatibility complex (MHC), the most variable group of genes in many organisms related to disease resistance is being examined in the Gila topminnow, desert bighorn sheep, Arabian oryx, Przewalski’s horse, winter-run chinook salmon and its relationship to disease resistance studied in winter-run chinook salmon and bighorn sheep. He conducts theoretical research on the maintenance of genetic variation in variable environments, genetic variation in metapopulations, and purging inbreeding depression.

The language of the book and the ways of expression of the facts really deserve to be admired. The genetic improvement of fish for aquaculture and related fisheries is a field of research that has seen immense advances in recent years.
Yet there has been no book which provides an accessible overview of the subject until now. The present study investigates the seasonal variation in fish abundance, fish biomass, reproductive status and population structure of four dominant Benthic fish species, Salaria pavo, Poniatoschistus marmoratus, Gobius cobitis and Gobius niger, in the shallow and littoral areas of the Mar Menor Coastal Lagoon.
In addition, the seasonal habitat associations of each

Though literature is available describing in detail these techniques and their utilities, yet the general reader is unable to understand them since he is not aware of basic concepts, principles and terminology. "A Textbook of Genetics" aims at introducing the basic concepts, principles and techniques in a way that will enable the reader to understand complex as well as latest innovations in genetics.
In addition, by describing in a picturesque manner cell structure, chromosomes, DNA, RNA, genes, laws of inheritance, etc., the book makes elucidation on genetics, gene therapy, genetic engineering,
