On the eve of its compilation about fifty years ago, Mundari language was spoken by over 60,000 Mundas and other akin tribals. Indian kosa-s, all written in Sanskrit, were but thesauri of synonyms and antonyms, the concept of arranging words in alphabetical order being conspicuously absent.
